FROM:
Jim Ackerman, President of the FHA Board
DATE: July 5, 2006
TO: All Fearrington Residents
SUBJECT: RB Fitch's proposal, currently before the Chatham County Planning
Department, to revise the Fearrington P.U.D (Planned Unit Development)
Because of the numerous questions that have arisen as a consequence of RB's
June 30th e-mail, we suggested that he hold an informational meeting for the
community to answer some of the concerns that have been expressed over these
last 5 days. Unfortunately, RB did not accept our recommendation, but did
offer the following: "Please tell anyone interested that I am setting aside
from 10 to noon on Monday (the 10th) through Thursday (the 13th) of next
week for drop ins". As he indicated in his letter, there will be a public
hearing at the Pittsboro Court House on Monday evening July 17th. Because we
believe that much of the confusion regarding the implications of the Fitch
proposal stems from lack of information on the one hand and misinformation
on the other, the FHA Board has scheduled an open meeting of the Board to
discuss this topic. We have arranged for two extremely knowledgeable
Fearringtonians to meet with all interested residents to explain the entire
Chatham County Planning process and to answer questions specifically about
RB's proposal. This meeting will be held next Thursday evening at 7:00 PM at
the Gathering place. Bob Eby, a former president of the FHA and the lead
person in studying the potential impact of Briar Chapel on Fearrington
Village will be joined by Loyse Hurley in outlining what RB's proposal will
likely mean for the future of this village.
In short, concerned Fearringtonians have three opportunities to learn more
of the details of RB's proposal and to voice their opinion:
1) Drop in to meet with RB on July 10-13.
2) Attend the informational meeting sponsored by the FHA at the Gathering
Place on July 13th at 7:00 PM or
3) Attend the public hearing at the Pittsboro Court House on Monday evening
July 17th.
