SAFETY AND EMERGENCY SUGGESTIONS

House Numbers

Ø      Make sure your house number is visible from the street, day and night, so an emergency vehicle can quickly spot it.

Ø    Make sure a hanging plant or growing shrubbery does not cover it.

Ø    Contrasting colors are best (e.g., black on white is more visible than brass on yellow or gray on gray.)

Ø    Residents in Camden Park with Rows (alleys) should also make sure that they have house numbers on their garages and the the numbers are clearly visible from the alley to assist emergency/delivery/service people.

Fallen Trees

Ø       If a tree has fallen on a power line, DO NOT TOUCH; call 911. If it has fallen in the street, and your friends and neighbors can't handle it, call NCDot to schedule a state road crew.

Ø        If a tree has fallen on your property, you must arrange removal with a private contractor.

Burning Brush

Ø      With the regularly scheduled pickups, burning should not be necessary. If it is, you can obtain a permit and instructions from the local Fire Department.

Dead Animals

Ø      Dead animals on the rights of way will be picked up by the Department of Transportation.

Ø      Removal of a dead animal from your property is your responsibility and you must arrange removal with a private contractor. The names of such contractors are available at the FHA office.
